That's a personal matter between couples or a man and his wives(!). In wealthier countries children are seen as a financial liability. In poorer regions they are a financial asset and a security for old age. If extreme poverty were to be eliminated, World population growth would stabilise. Planet Earth could probably sustain twelve billion people quite comfortably if it was cared for properly.
