Although a great deal is known about where earthquakes are likely to occur, there is currently no reliable way to predict the days or months when an event will occur in any specific location. The USGS is thus focusing its research efforts on developing long-range earthquake probability forecasts in seismically active urban areas. The only on-going USGS research in earthquake prediction is the Parkfield Prediction Experiment. |

THE ASSOCIATION OF WORLD CITIZENS (AWC) is an international peace organization with branches in 51 countries. Initiated in 1975, AWC has NGO status with the UN's Department of Public Information (DPI), and Consultative Status with the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The primary goal is building a Global Village of lasting peace, social and economic justice, and the foundation for a new civilization based on respect for life and the environment. The key to achieve this goal is for people to think and act as responsible Citizens of the World. World Citizenship is not a replacement for national citizenship, but rather a new responsibility in this interdependent world to work together across national boundaries to secure our common fate. |

State of the World Forum
http://www.worldforum.org/ |
A decade after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the world community continues to struggle in its efforts to define and establish a more compassionate, just, non-violent, and ecologically sustainable world order. With this challenge in mind, the State of the World Forum was founded with the explicit purpose of gathering together the creative genius of the human family, its elders and innovators, in a search for solutions to the critical challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. What has emerged over the past six years is an extraordinary community of commitment representing nearly 6,000 extraordinary individuals, including youth, from more than 100 nations and from a wide spectrum of disciplines and professions. The Forum community is united by a unique matrix of shared values and ideas, which, from our vantagepoint, appear to describe the outlines of a new global development agenda and new global ethic. The transcultural principles underlying this emerging ethic seem to lead naturally to a more responsible, compassionate and collaborative vision for the development of human societies, as well as a powerful common evolutionary enterprise for our species. With this inspiring possibility clearly in view, the Forum now seeks to fully explicate this vision and build a robust and fully dimensionalized leadership community dedicated to embodying and communicating the principles and practices essential to co-creating a better world for humanity and all living things. |

Center for the Study of Corruption and the Rule of Law
http://public-integrity.org/ |
Good Governance and Public Integrity The ultimate objective of the Center for the Study of Corruption and the Rule of Law (CSC) is to promote standards of national and international integrity. The CII provides a variety of anti-corruption programs, from systematic analysis and developing strategies for monitoring and enforcement, to training, conferences, and conducting (real) case studies. The Center performs fact based systemic and systematic analyses of existing laws, with focus on their implementation. Taking local conditions into consideration, in consultation and cooperation with local experts, the findings serve the design of pragmatic strategies for necessary changes, reform and training. The CII also conducts a comprehensive evaluation of national and international corruption practices for the development of an annual Integrity Index. This Index provides a comparative measure on a country-by-country basis of corruption and anti-corruption measures and the effectiveness of their implementation. The Integrity Index is a unique resource for governments, multinational corporations, and others interested in making policies concerning the rule of law and the implementation and monitoring of those policies and ethical business practices |

Transparency International
http://www.transparency.org/ |
Transparency International, the only international non-governmental organisation devoted to combating corruption, brings civil society, business, and governments together in a powerful global coalition. TI, through its International Secretariat and more than 80 independent national chapters around the world, works at both the national and international level to curb both the supply and demand of corruption. In the international arena, TI raises awareness about the damaging effects of corruption, advocates policy reform, works towards the implementation of multilateral conventions and subsequently monitors compliance by governments, corporations and banks. At the national level, chapters work to increase levels of accountability and transparency, monitoring the performance of key institutions and pressing for necessary reforms in a non-party political manner. TI does not expose individual cases (that is the work of journalists, many of whom are members of TI chapters). Rather, in an effort to make long-term gains against corruption, TI focuses on prevention and reforming systems. A principal tool in the fight against corruption is access to information. It is in this spirit that we offer this website to everybody with an interest in the fight against corruption. We hope it will make a valuable contribution to assessing the gains made in recent years, and to contemplating the challenges that still lie ahead. |

CONSTITUTION
http://www.constitution.org/ |
Constitution Society is a private non-profit organization dedicated to research and public education on the principles of constitutional republican government. It publishes documentation, engages in litigation, and organizes local citizens groups to work for reform. This organization was founded in response to the growing concern that noncompliance with the U.S. Constitution and most state constitutions is creating a crisis of legitimacy that threatens freedom and civil rights. Although the focus here is on government in the United States, coverage also includes the rest of the world, and private as well as public organizations. We maintain that the principles of constitutional republicanism are universal, and applicable to all nations, although not well understood or upheld by most. We also examine the related principles of federalism and nomocracy, the rule of law, of nomology, the science of law, and show how those principles are applicable to solving the fundamental problem of avoiding excessive or unbalanced concentrations of power. |

The 12-12-12 website is an educational website that facilitates individual or group discussion. The coded 12-12-12 book is a snapshot, written over an 87 day period, of the major problems in the World as at March 17th 2002 and possibly how to resolve them. The author Andronicos has written it in an ironic style to act as a catalyst for constructive discussion.
